What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating a brief culturally adapted behavioral activation intervention designed for adults with depression in a primary care setting. This pilot study aims to determine if this short, personalized approach delivered by a primary care psychologist is acceptable, feasible, and suitable for reducing depressive symptoms among adults diagnosed with depression. The study uses a single arm design and includes mixed methods to gather comprehensive feedback. Participants will receive three individual face-to-face sessions of the culturally adapted behavioral activation therapy. Each session lasts between 30 to 45 minutes and includes both in-session activities and homework assignments to help apply behavioral techniques in daily life. The intervention is delivered by a primary care psychologist, and both participants and providers complete standardized questionnaires before and after the intervention. Throughout the study, researchers will assess participants' and providers' views on the acceptability, feasibility, and appropriateness of the intervention using specific measures and semi-structured interviews within one week post-intervention. Secondary outcomes include changes in depressive symptoms, quality of life, anxiety levels, and depression diagnosis, which will be measured at baseline and after the intervention. The results will guide further development before testing in larger trials.
