What this Trial Is About

This research aims to develop and evaluate a new coaching program designed for physician trainee mothers who are pregnant or recently postpartum. The study focuses on addressing burnout and improving well-being by providing tailored support that includes one-on-one and group coaching sessions. It particularly includes diverse trainee parents such as LGBTQ+ and underrepresented in medicine individuals to better support their unique challenges. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. Those in the intervention group will engage in a 4-month coaching program consisting of monthly one-on-one meetings with a novice physician coach and group sessions with a certified physician coach via video conferencing. The control group will receive a delayed intervention after the study, including a 2-hour workshop, video access, and self-guided exercises. Throughout the study, all participants will complete surveys at enrollment, 4 months, and 7 months to assess burnout, professional fulfillment, imposter phenomenon, self-valuation, self-efficacy, resilience, quality of life, and work's impact on personal relationships. After 7 months, participants will be interviewed via secure video for about 30 minutes to explore long-term effects. The entire study will last 7 months per participant.
