This research aims to improve how reproductive processes such as menstruation, pregnancy, abortion, and menopause are represented in Spanish fiction. It explores whether a handbook of good practices, developed with input from people experiencing these processes and experts including gynecologists, midwives, audiovisual professionals, and scriptwriters, can promote more inclusive and updated portrayals. The study addresses how cultural narratives shape individual and social perceptions related to reproductive health. The study uses a mixed methods approach divided into three phases. First, it involves a quantitative review of audiovisual fiction depicting reproductive processes in Spain through film databases and digital platforms. Second, it gathers perceptions from users involved in reproductive health and professionals through focus groups and interviews. Third, participatory action research is applied to co-create a manual of good practices for use in undergraduate and postgraduate communication and audiovisual training programs. Participants including users, health professionals, and audiovisual experts will actively contribute to the research phases from data collection to interpretation. Researchers will assess the impact of the manual on educational programs over up to five years. Outcome measures include creating a database of fictional works, analyzing focus group and interview data, and developing a practical guide to foster realistic, stereotype-free representations that may improve public understanding and professional training in audiovisual fields.
