This research focuses on pediatric and adolescent gymnasts aged 8 to 18 years who are recovering from musculoskeletal injuries. It aims to evaluate their quality of life and life satisfaction throughout the recovery process, helping to understand the impact of injuries on these young athletes. The study is observational and sponsored by the University of Colorado, Denver. Participants are gymnasts involved in Excel or Developmental gymnastics programs who have sustained a musculoskeletal injury and receive care at designated sports medicine or orthopedic clinics. The study does not involve any treatments but observes participants over time as they recover from their injuries. During the study, participants will complete several questionnaires and assessments at multiple time points: at the initial visit, follow-up visits up to three months later, clearance to return to sport, and at six and twelve months post initial visit. These assessments include measures of quality of life, fear of movement (kinesiophobia), injury details, specialization level, injury history, and sleep quality. The study monitors changes over time to better understand recovery and well-being in young gymnasts.
