Identifying Risk Factors and Creating a Predictive Model for Inflammatory Polyps in Patients Undergoing Surgery for Ureteral Stones

Researchers are studying patients with ureteral stones to find risk factors linked to inflammatory ureteral polyps and to build a model that predicts these polyps before surgery. This observational study includes a retrospective group of patients treated between 2018 and 2025 and a prospective group currently being recruited to confirm the model. The main focus is to identify polyps during ureteroscopic surgery. The study has two parts a retrospective cohort of 629 patients whose clinical and imaging data were analyzed to identify risk factors and create a predictive model, and a prospective validation cohort that aims to recruit 150 new patients from 2026 to early 2027 to test the accuracy of this model. All participants undergo ureteroscopic surgery for their stones. Participants will have their clinical and imaging information reviewed, focusing on the presence of inflammatory ureteral polyps confirmed during surgery. Researchers will monitor and validate the predictive model in the prospective group. The total study period spans from 2018 through early 2027, with ongoing data collection and analysis to improve understanding and prediction of polyps in ureteral stone patients.
