What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the Family Check-Up Online, a digital health program aimed at improving child mental health and behavior through family-centered support in schools. This program builds on over 25 years of research and has shown promise in addressing issues like depression and conduct problems in children. The study focuses on understanding how the program can be best integrated into schools and how it works when delivered by real-world providers, with the goal of preparing for wider use in educational settings. The study compares two ways of delivering the Family Check-Up Online: one with telehealth coaching support from a parenting coach and one without coaching, using only the digital program. Thirty school providers will be trained and randomly assigned to one of these two delivery methods, each enrolling about 20 families over a year. In addition, interviews with school providers and parents will help identify effective strategies for implementing both versions of the program as routine school services. Participants will be involved in the program over a six-month period during which researchers will assess changes in child depression, anxiety, parenting skills, family communication, and support for school success. Data will be collected from parent reports at the start and end of this period. The study also monitors how well the program is adopted and maintained by schools and providers. This process will help guide future commercialization and ongoing use of the Family Check-Up Online in various school environments.
