Obesity is a widespread health issue linked to many serious diseases such as type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, hypertension, heart attacks, stroke, dementia, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and certain cancers. It also negatively impacts quality of life, life expectancy, employment, and socioeconomic productivity. This research aims to investigate the validity and reliability of the 6-minute Pegboard and Ring Test (6PBRT) for assessing upper extremity functional capacity in obese individuals, as it has not been studied in this group before. This observational study will measure upper extremity exercise capacity using the 6PBRT, where participants will move rings on a board for six minutes while heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, dyspnea, and fatigue are recorded before and after the test. Participants will rest for one hour between two test trials to ensure stability, with assessments of fatigue, dyspnea, and heart rate made before the second trial. Evaluations will be conducted by a physiotherapist, with an expert present. Participants will undergo baseline assessments including demographic and clinical data, body composition, respiratory muscle strength, and extremity muscle strength. Measurements of dyspnea and fatigue will be recorded using the Modified Borg Scale, and physiological parameters like muscle oxygenation, heart rate, and blood pressure will be monitored before and after the tests. The study plans to include approximately 50 obese adults and will analyze test-retest reliability using statistical methods, with participation lasting as needed for these evaluations.

Participants undergo the Six-Minute Pegboard and Ring Test twice with a 1-hour rest break between tests. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, dyspnea, and fatigue are evaluated before and after each test.
