What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate how acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) combined with compassion-based virtual group therapy can improve psychological wellbeing in patients with cancer. The study focuses on enhancing compassion, understanding, and psychological flexibility, addressing distress and reduced quality of life often experienced by individuals facing cancer diagnosis, treatment, or related symptoms. ACT has shown potential benefits in improving quality of life and reducing psychological distress in these situations. Participants attend virtual group therapy sessions lasting 1.5 hours each week for six weeks. These sessions are designed to provide compassionate support and build psychological flexibility. After completing the therapy sessions, patients will be followed up one month later to assess ongoing effects. Throughout the study, researchers will measure how participants perceive compassion and understanding from the group therapy provider, as well as changes in psychological flexibility, distress levels, mindfulness, self-compassion, meaning and purpose, and posttraumatic growth. Assessments occur from the start of the study through one month after the final session. Participants' psychological and physical wellbeing will be closely monitored during this period.
