What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the Hypomanic Personality Scale - 6 (HPS-6) to adapt and validate it for the Romanian population, aiming to improve screening for individuals at high risk for Bipolar Disorder (BD). This chronic and serious condition affects about 2.4% of people worldwide, but in Romania, the reported prevalence is low due to stigma and healthcare system challenges. The study seeks to provide a brief, reliable tool to help identify BD earlier and support better diagnosis and treatment. Participants will be assessed using the HPS-6 along with several other questionnaires related to mood, behavior, impulsivity, affective lability, and self-rating scales. The study includes two groups: one for piloting the scale and exploratory factor analysis, and another with clinically evaluated individuals for confirmatory factor analysis. Assessments occur at baseline and one month later to evaluate test-retest reliability and other psychological measures. During the study, participants will complete various standardized questionnaires to measure mood symptoms, behavioral systems, impulsivity, and other relevant traits. The primary outcome is the performance of the HPS-6 at baseline and after one month. Secondary outcomes include psychiatric diagnostic screening and suicide behavior assessments. Participant involvement includes completing these assessments and questionnaires, with monitoring for eligibility criteria such as suicide risk and substance use disorders.
