What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the prevalence of sensitization to gibberellin-related proteins (GRPs), which are found in both pollens and certain foods like peaches, apples, sesame, carrots, lemons, and oranges. These proteins are linked to an increased risk of severe food allergy reactions, especially in regions with high exposure to specific pollens such as those from the Cupressaceae family. The study aims to better understand sensitization profiles to these allergens to improve allergy management, focusing on patients attending the Allergy Unit at the University Hospital of Montpellier. The study involves performing specific skin prick tests using raw forms of six foods containing GRPs: peach, apple, sesame, carrot, lemon, and orange. Participants will undergo testing during their allergy evaluation visit. This observational assessment will help identify who is sensitized to these proteins and explore potential cross-sensitization between the different plants and foods. Participants aged 5 years and older consulting for any allergy evaluation will be involved in the study. Researchers will assess sensitization through skin prick tests and measure the prevalence of sensitization to these six foods and cypress pollen. They will also examine IgE antibody positivity to the peach allergen Pru p 7 in sensitized patients and correlate sensitization with reported symptoms. The study's primary outcome is measured in one day during the allergy consultation.
