Study of Suicidal Behavior in Children and Adolescents Aged 8 to 18 During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Auvergne-Rhne-Alpes Region

This research investigates the clinical and socioeconomic characteristics of children and adolescents who experienced suicidal behavior in the Auvergne Rhone Alpes region during the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on the impact of social restrictions and eco-anxiety during the pandemic on suicidal behavior, especially among those aged 8 to under 18 years. The study compares data from the pandemic period with data from before the pandemic to better understand changes in suicidal behaviors and psychological conditions. Participants are grouped into those with suicidal behaviors during the COVID-19 crisis between 2020 and 2022, including a subgroup involved in qualitative interviews with their parents, and a control group with similar behaviors before the pandemic from 2018 to 2019. Data collection includes aggregated demographic and diagnostic information from hospital records, as well as detailed socioeconomic and psychopathological data. Some participants and their parents will also take part in interviews and focus groups. Throughout the study, researchers will collect baseline demographic and diagnostic data, and follow up with assessments including psychological scales and qualitative interviews up to three months. The study tracks the number of patients admitted for suicidal behaviors and evaluates psychological impact through specific scales and interviews. Participation may last up to several months, with data collected via hospital records, interviews, and questionnaires to understand the factors influencing suicidal behavior during and before the pandemic.
