Studying Autism Traits and Feeding Problems in Young Children Aged 1.5 to 6 Years in Hungary

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to assess how common autistic traits and feeding disorders are in young children, with the goal of developing a screening tool for early autism detection that primary care professionals can use widely. The study focuses on children aged 1.5 to 6 years and explores the links between autism spectrum disorder ASD and eating difficulties in the general population. The study has two parts first, it involves translating, adapting, and validating questionnaires into Hungarian and then administering these to a large group of parents to explore autism and feeding difficulty associations. In the clinical phase, children and their parents will have in-person assessments using these questionnaires, including observing eating behaviors and autistic symptoms. Researchers will also evaluate the childs physical health, sensory sensitivities, and parental attitudes like anxiety and attachment. Participants will complete questionnaires and undergo evaluations over about two years, focusing on scores from the Brief Autism Mealtime Behavior Inventory BAMBI. This study involves children with varying BAMBI scores to compare feeding behaviors. The research team will monitor eating difficulties, autism symptoms, and other factors to better understand their relationships and help develop early detection tools for autism.
