Risk Prediction System for Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease A Community-based Cohort Study

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a community-based cohort study to better understand metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), a serious liver condition linked to risks such as liver cancer, heart disease, and kidney disease. The study aims to develop a risk evaluation system for MAFLD by following a group of people over time. Participants include adults who undergo health physical examinations at Beijing Friendship Hospital and agree to join the study. Participants' past health exam results and current baseline data including demographics, medical history, physical exams, lab tests, and imaging results are collected. Follow-up surveys with similar data collection occur annually. The study tracks important health outcomes like cardiovascular disease, cancers, liver cirrhosis and failure, liver transplants, and overall mortality by linking study data with hospital records and death registries. Throughout the study, information is gathered yearly for up to ten years to observe long-term health changes and risks related to MAFLD. This includes monitoring for cardiovascular events and other serious conditions. The study involves no treatment or intervention but focuses on observation and data collection. Participants' health is continually assessed to help build a system that predicts risk for complications of fatty liver disease.
