What this Trial Is About
Coronary artery disease and related cardiovascular conditions are major causes of health problems and death in developed countries. This study aims to explore the use of blood biomarkers involved in atherothrombosis to improve the identification of patients at risk for major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Researchers seek to better understand the relationship between these biomarkers and coronary artery disease in patients undergoing cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Participants are patients referred for routine CCTA who will have a blood sample drawn before the imaging procedure. These blood samples will be stored in a biobank for up to 15 years for future analysis. The study observes the connection between novel blood biomarkers and CCTA findings to assess their predictive and prognostic value for coronary artery disease and long-term cardiovascular outcomes. During the study, researchers will collect data from patients undergoing CCTA who consent to blood sampling. They will follow patients for up to 15 years to monitor cardiovascular events and outcomes. The study measures include the relationship of biomarkers to imaging findings and the ability of biomarkers to predict disease and serious cardiac events. This long-term observational approach aims to improve risk stratification in cardiovascular disease.
