What this Trial Is About
Severe bacterial infections in children are a significant global health concern, but their occurrence changes over time. Currently, there is no system in France to monitor these serious infections in children. This study aims to count cases and describe the clinical, biological, and microbiological features of severe community-acquired invasive bacterial infections in children admitted to pediatric intensive care units. It also seeks to understand how these children are managed during their hospital stay. This observational study will focus on children under 18 years old who are hospitalized in pediatric intensive care units with documented severe community-acquired bacterial infections. The study will collect data on the number of cases, medical characteristics, risk factors, predictive signs of severity, types of complications, treatments used during hospitalization, bacterial strain details, healthcare utilization, and patient outcomes over one year. Participants will be monitored through medical records and clinical data collected during their hospital stay. Researchers will analyze these data to identify patterns and factors related to severe infections. The study will measure the number of cases and characterize the children hospitalized for these infections within one year. The observation period will help improve understanding of severe bacterial infections in this population and guide future prevention and treatment strategies.
