Study of Invasive Group A Streptococcal Infection in Children Aged Under 18 Years French Nationwide Pediatric Observational Study

Researchers are conducting an observational study focused on pediatric patients hospitalized with invasive Group A Streptococcal infection. The study aims to identify and document cases of severe infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, evaluate the incidence of severe disease forms, explore contributing factors, and improve management strategies. Patients admitted to intensive or critical care units are also included to better understand the diseases impact. This study collects epidemiological, clinical, and bacteriological data on all cases of Group A Streptococcal infections, whether severe or not, to describe their characteristics and investigate reasons for recent increases in cases. Data will be gathered retrospectively and prospectively across participating centers, compiling information on infection severity and strain characteristics. Participants will be observed for one year, during which researchers will record hospitalizations, treatments in intensive care and routine care units, complications, risk factors, strain characterization, and mortality. The study focuses on collecting detailed medical data without assigning any treatment, allowing researchers to monitor disease outcomes and gather information to inform future care approaches.
