Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 50 years or older
- Stable chronic heart failure with maximally tolerated treatment for at least 2 months
- Heart failure patients with no, moderate, or marked limitation of physical activity (NYHA class I, II, or III)
- Ability to perform cognitive and physical training exercises
You will not qualify if you...
- Acute cardiovascular event within 1 month before randomization
- Planned heart-related surgery or device implantation within 6 months
- Severe exercise intolerance
- Contraindications for exercise testing such as severe artery stenosis or severe pulmonary hypertension
- Severe respiratory disease
- Non-cardiopulmonary conditions limiting exercise such as arthritis or neurological diseases
- Uncontrolled diabetes or untreated thyroid problems
- Current or recent cancer with life expectancy under 1 year
- Receiving chronic dialysis
- Unable to read or understand study consent and explanations
