Research Database and Biorepository for Lung Disease in Veterans and Contractors from Southwest Asia Operations

What this Trial Is About

This research focuses on patients at National Jewish Health who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom, including civilian contractors involved in these military operations in Iraq or Afghanistan. It aims to create a research database and biorepository to better understand deployment-related lung disease, specifically bronchiolitis, by collecting clinical and exposure data. Participants will provide a one-time blood sample to be stored in the biorepository. Clinical data and test results from routine care will be entered into the research database with consent. The study also collects symptom and exposure information through a questionnaire designed for this research. During the study, participants will have their symptom and exposure data collected for up to 24 months. No additional procedures beyond standard care and the blood draw are required. Researchers will monitor and analyze this information to characterize deployment-related lung disease. Participation includes data collection from medical records and questionnaires, with no extra clinical interventions.
