What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating how the Vibrant Health Ultimate whole-body vibration (WBV) machine affects pain and inflammation in older adults with knee osteoarthritis. The study aims to see if 12 weeks of WBV can reduce knee pain and improve vascular health by lowering systemic inflammation. This approach is being explored as a potentially easier alternative to traditional exercises like walking or cycling for people with knee osteoarthritis. Participants will receive a personal vibration plate with stabilizing bars to use at home for up to 12 weeks. They will stand barefoot on the plate in a specific stance and perform sessions starting with 5-10 minutes per day, 4-5 days per week during the first four weeks. The duration may increase to 15 minutes starting week 5 and up to 20 minutes from week 9, depending on how the participant feels, with rest days recommended between sessions early on. During the study, researchers will measure changes in pain sensitivity using a pain pressure threshold device before and after the 12-week training. They will also assess vascular function through pulse wave velocity and measure inflammation levels by testing IL-6 in the blood. Participants will be monitored throughout, and the study will last for the full 12-week intervention period.
