What this Trial Is About
Non-communicable chronic diseases affect about 30% of adults worldwide and can significantly reduce respiratory function and quality of life. This research evaluates the effects of a pulmonary and cardiovascular rehabilitation program on patients using the physical therapy service at CECOM of UNICAMP. The study focuses on improving functional capacity, quality of life, and respiratory health over a three-month period for individuals with chronic respiratory or cardiovascular conditions. Participants will undergo a rehabilitation program that includes aerobic exercises on a treadmill or stationary bike at an intensity of 50-70% of their reserve heart rate, keeping below ischemic thresholds. The program also involves strengthening exercises for the upper and lower limbs and respiratory muscle training for lung disease patients. The study compares participants' health outcomes before and after three months of exercise. During the study, participants will have assessments including medical history, physical exams (weight, height, BMI, heart and lung sounds, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory muscle strength), and functional capacity measured by a six-minute walk test. Quality of life will be evaluated through questionnaires. Researchers will monitor changes in functional capacity, inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength at three months to assess the rehabilitation program's impact.
