AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate the effects of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing course, a behavioral program designed to promote wellbeing, health, and work participation. The study focuses on individuals in Norway facing health challenges, work absence, and social inequalities. It examines the course's impact on wellbeing, social integration, health behaviors, and work adherence in people with or at high risk of disease, including those on sick leave or receiving welfare benefits. Participants will attend the 5 Ways to Wellbeing course over six weekly sessions, each lasting 2.5 hours. The course is led by trained coaches from Healthy Life Centres (HLCs) and the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV). This study involves two groups: one attending the course through HLCs and another group of welfare recipients randomized to either the course or usual follow-up. The course covers five wellbeing actions with the final session dedicated to review and sharing. Participants will complete questionnaires about their wellbeing, health, mastery, social life, and work participation at the start and end of the course, as well as at 6 and 15 months afterward. Data collection uses digital surveys sent via SMS links. Researchers will analyze changes over time to understand the course's effects and cost effectiveness. The study includes approximately 600 course participants and control groups, with ongoing monitoring for up to 15 months to assess long-term outcomes.
