What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of hypnosis, virtual reality, or their combination on reducing anxiety and other symptoms in patients undergoing a bone marrow procedure. The study aims to understand whether these interventions can help ease the discomfort and stress associated with the procedure. Participants will be adults who are candidates for a bone marrow examination at a hematology unit. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: listening to a 7-minute recorded hypnotic script via earphones, using a virtual reality device showing 3D images and soothing sounds for about 7 minutes, or receiving no intervention. After the intervention or waiting period, patients will complete questionnaires and have their vital signs measured before and after the bone marrow procedure. During the study, nurses will measure vital signs and participants will fill out short questionnaires before and after interventions and after the procedure. Researchers will assess symptoms experienced during the bone marrow procedure, including anxiety and other complaints, as well as vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. The total observation time for each participant is about one hour.
