Study on How Aortic Disease Affects Quality of Life and Ability to Work in Adults Aged 18 to 70

Aortic diseases include a variety of congenital and acquired conditions affecting the aorta, which plays a key role in blood flow and elasticity. These diseases are complex and can worsen with age or due to genetic and degenerative factors. Beyond physical health, aortic diseases can significantly reduce quality of life, psychological well-being, and the ability to work, requiring a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care. This longitudinal observational study is designed to systematically evaluate health-related quality of life, fatigue, psychological well-being, and work ability in patients diagnosed with aortic diseases. The research aims to support an interdisciplinary model that combines clinical, psychological, and occupational factors to better manage these conditions and help patients maintain or regain their capacity to work. Participants will be monitored over 12 months, with assessments including the Work Ability Index WAI and questionnaires on quality of life and psychological status. Researchers will measure changes in work ability and other health-related outcomes during this period. The study is led by Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS and will run until mid-2028, providing valuable insights for patient care and occupational risk evaluation.
