Researchers are exploring how vegan pregnant women and parents of vegan children (up to age 5) choose and use dietary supplements, the sources they trust for information, and the role of medical experts in advising them. The study aims to understand the challenges in supplement administration and how well vegans comply with supplement recommendations, as no data currently exists on these factors. The research also looks at medical experts' knowledge and opinions regarding a vegan diet during pregnancy and early childhood. The study includes two groups: vegan pregnant women and parents who feed their children a vegan diet, and medical experts such as pediatricians, gynecologists, general practitioners, pharmacists, and dieticians. Participants complete a survey that assesses their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to vegan diets and dietary supplements. The survey also investigates the quality and sources of information vegans rely on and examines the advisory role of medical professionals. Participants provide information through questionnaires about their diet, supplement use, and experiences with healthcare providers. Researchers will evaluate factors influencing supplement choices, trust in information sources, and medical experts' viewpoints approximately 24 months after participation. The study measures include knowledge about nutrient deficiencies, compliance with supplements, and difficulties in supplement administration. Results aim to improve information and counseling for vegans during pregnancy and early childhood.
