The Boston Cognitive Assessment (BoCA) is an online test designed for people aged 50 and older to monitor cognitive abilities over time. It includes tasks that change randomly to reduce learning effects and is used in clinical trials to evaluate treatment effects. The test covers multiple areas such as memory, executive function, attention, mental math, language, and orientation, with a maximum score of 30 indicating better cognitive function. BoCA is self-administered online and provides immediate results including domain scores and a total score. Users also receive a detailed report via email showing their progress over time. This digital tool aims to help doctors identify causes of cognitive decline related to treatable conditions like sleep disorders, mood problems, and others, while making testing more accessible. Participants complete the BoCA test repeatedly over an average of one year for longitudinal monitoring. The main outcome measured is the BoCA score throughout the study. This approach reduces barriers to cognitive testing and supports ongoing assessment without the need for in-person visits.
