What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the oral health knowledge of pregnant women receiving care at Hospital La Fe and to assess whether a one-time informational leaflet can improve their understanding. The study focuses on pregnant women who have recently given birth to healthy babies and explores factors influencing their oral health knowledge. It is designed as an interventional study led by the University of Valencia. Participants receive a printed leaflet during their hospital visit containing two sections one about oral health care for mothers during pregnancy and another about oral health recommendations for newborns. The leaflet content follows guidelines from international pediatric dentistry organizations. After reading the leaflet, participants complete the same oral health knowledge questionnaire again after a set period to evaluate changes. During the study, participants first complete a questionnaire about their oral health knowledge. After receiving the leaflet, they complete the questionnaire again, mostly by phone, to compare results before and after the intervention. Researchers measure changes in knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding oral health from the initial questionnaire until completion of the follow-up, up to 39 weeks. The total study duration extends until July 2026.
