What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying older adults aged 65 to 74 who live alone and have limb injuries to understand their experiences and to evaluate a special care program called the Geriatric Trauma Care Program (GTCP). This research includes two parts: first, interviews to learn about patients' experiences, and second, a controlled trial to test the effects of the GTCP. The GTCP involves two sessions using digital tools: an age-friendly e-Book and a personalized app featuring handwritten wisdom quotes, meditation, and inspirational words. Participants in the study are divided into two groups: one receives the GTCP along with routine care, and the other receives routine care only. Data will be collected at hospital discharge, and again at 1 and 3 months after discharge, to assess the impact of the program. Participants will complete questionnaires measuring pain, ability to function, depression, loneliness, and quality of life at these time points. Interviews and assessments will be conducted in outpatient settings. Researchers aim to gather information over three months to understand how the program influences patient outcomes and well-being, with 45 participants expected in each group.
