What this Trial Is About
This research focuses on patients with Achalasia who have undergone or will undergo peroral endoscopic myotomy POEM procedures. The study includes a retrospective chart review for patients treated between June 2016 and January 2019, and a prospective chart review for those treated from February 2019 to June 2021. The purpose is to collect and analyze patient data related to POEM treatment outcomes. Participants will undergo clinically indicated and standard care endoscopic procedures, including POEM, as part of their routine medical treatment. No additional tests or procedures are required specifically for the study. Data will be collected from patients electronic health records, and each participant will be assigned a de-identified case ID to protect privacy. During the study, researchers will review procedure reports and outpatient clinical records to monitor symptoms such as chest pain up to 180 days after treatment. Participants will not have extra visits or tests beyond their usual care. All data collection and analysis will be done by authorized study members while maintaining confidentiality. The study duration spans data collection up to February 2027.
