What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the sedation effectiveness and safety of combining remimazolam with oliceridine in elderly patients undergoing painless gastrointestinal endoscopy. Elderly patients are at higher risk of breathing and heart function problems during sedation. The study investigates if this drug combination can provide stable sedation, keep vital signs steady, and lower risks like low oxygen levels and changes in thinking after the procedure. Participants will receive sedation with either remimazolam combined with oliceridine or remimazolam alone or remimazolam plus traditional opioids during their endoscopy. Remimazolam is given through an IV to start and maintain sedation, while oliceridine is given intravenously to help with pain control and reduce sedation side effects. The study is conducted following ethical guidelines and approved by an ethics committee. Throughout the procedure, vital signs including oxygen saturation will be closely monitored. Cognitive function will be assessed before and after using tests like the Mini-Mental State Examination MMSE and Montreal Cognitive Assessment MoCA, considering education levels. Follow-up checks will happen at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after the procedure. The main measurement is the occurrence of low oxygen levels from sedation start to procedure end, with other outcomes including blood pressure drops and sedation success rates.
