Researchers are studying the characteristics of the blood vessel walls in children and adolescents to better understand cardiovascular risk, whether or not they have heart disease. The focus is on arterial stiffness, an important factor linked to cardiovascular disease, which can begin developing in childhood. The study emphasizes the clinical importance of measuring arterial stiffness as it relates to heart health and potential future risks. The study uses a noninvasive medical device called VICORDER, which measures arterial stiffness by assessing carotid-femoral Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV). This device works with cuffs similar to blood pressure monitors and provides quick and easy measurements. The study includes children aged 6 to 17 years old, examining how arterial stiffness varies with cardiovascular risk factors. The device's reliability and suitability for pediatric use have been previously established. Participants will undergo the VICORDER examination, which involves automatic inflation and deflation of cuffs to measure vascular function. Researchers will monitor arterial stiffness over an average of one year to compare children with and without cardiovascular risk factors. The goal is to understand vascular health in pediatric patients better and potentially guide early personalized treatments. The study requires cooperation during the exam and collects informed consent from parents or guardians.
