What this Trial Is About
This research aims to examine how Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) training given to midwifery students through a peer education method affects their knowledge, skills, and confidence in using EFM. The study is an experimental design with randomized controlled pre-test and post-test assessments. It focuses on second-year midwifery students who have not previously received EFM training and are taking the Prenatal Period-I course for the first time. Participants first receive standard training on EFM consisting of two 50-minute lessons using an 80-slide PowerPoint presentation and a Leopold Maneuver Palpation Model. After standard training, students are randomly assigned to either a peer tutoring group or a standard education group. The peer tutoring group receives additional peer education where students teach each other in small groups using the same materials. Both groups then apply EFM techniques in clinical practice with pregnant women. During the study, students' knowledge and self-efficacy related to EFM are evaluated before and after training using a personal information form, an achievement test, and a self-efficacy scale. Their skills are monitored in real time during EFM application on pregnant women using a skill form. The primary outcomes are assessed shortly after training and clinical application. The study continues to evaluate students' performance throughout their clinical practice until completion.
