Researchers are studying the effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy on individuals diagnosed with gender incongruence or gender dysphoria. This observational study aims to understand the psychological, biological, and behavioral changes caused by hormone treatments. The focus is on how sex hormones influence mental health, metabolism, and behavior over long-term use. Participants in this study undergo hormone therapy while researchers collect data through various methods. These include clinical interviews, self-rating questionnaires, behavioral experiments using virtual reality and computer games, and genetic testing from blood, stool, hair, and saliva samples. The study uses online surveys at multiple timepoints before and up to 10 years after starting hormone therapy to monitor changes. During the study, participants complete psychometric assessments and behavioral tests to measure mental health, life satisfaction, sexual health, and other psychological traits. Researchers also track side effects and social support. The main outcome is assessed using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview over a 10-year period. Participants contribute data through scheduled online surveys and clinical evaluations, helping to provide a comprehensive understanding of hormone therapy's long-term effects.
