Registry Study on Gender Differences in Valvular Heart Disease Treatment and Care

Valvular heart disease VHD is a significant global health concern affecting many people worldwide. This research aims to study gender differences in VHD, including disparities in risks, diagnosis, and treatment. The study will recruit both men and women to examine how gender affects care from hospital admission to the first outpatient follow-up, addressing inequalities in medical and socioeconomic factors and treatment delivery. This is an observational registry enrolling adult patients diagnosed with any valvular heart disease according to current European Society of Cardiology ESC guidelines. Participants will be grouped by gender, either women or men with VHD, and followed over time without receiving any specific interventions. The study focuses on monitoring adherence to guidelines and timing of care rather than testing treatments. Participants will be tracked from hospital admission through their first outpatient visit. Researchers will collect data on treatment disparities, management differences, and compliance with ESC guidelines over one year. Outcomes include timing from diagnosis to therapy, symptom onset to presentation, and procedural complications. This registry will help understand gender-based differences in VHD care and guide future improvements.
