What this Trial Is About

Breast cancer is a major health concern worldwide and the second most common cancer after lung cancer, especially affecting women. Early diagnosis greatly improves survival and quality of life. Breast self-examination (BSE) is a low-cost, effective method for early detection, but nursing students often lack practical skills despite having theoretical knowledge. This research aims to compare the effects of an AI-supported flipped learning model with traditional education on nursing students' knowledge and skills in BSE. The study involves two groups: one receiving breast self-examination training through an innovative AI-supported flipped learning model, which promotes active learning, personalized feedback, and digital literacy; and a control group receiving traditional education without intervention. This randomized controlled trial evaluates these two approaches to determine their impact on students' BSE knowledge and performance. Participants will complete a Self-Breast Examination Information Form before and two weeks after training to assess knowledge changes. Additionally, a Breast Self-Examination Skill Checklist will be administered two weeks after the training to evaluate practical skills. The study is designed to measure the effectiveness of these educational methods in improving nursing students' ability to perform and understand BSE, with participation starting in March 2026 and concluding in May 2026.
