Gestational Diabetes Mellitus GDM is a common pregnancy-related metabolic disorder marked by glucose intolerance first identified during pregnancy. This condition is increasingly common globally and in India, partly due to rising obesity and diabetes rates. While previous studies have focused mainly on blood sugar control and pregnancy outcomes, this research highlights the less-explored impact of GDM on quality of life and psychological well-being in affected women. The study compares quality of life and psychological factors between pregnant women diagnosed with GDM and those without GDM. Women aged 20 to 40 years attending outpatient and inpatient services at Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, will participate. GDM diagnosis follows specific blood sugar criteria, and data on demographics, obstetric history, medical background, and socioeconomic status will be collected. Psychological evaluations will include assessments for anxiety, depression, stress, and perceived social support, along with a quality of life questionnaire tailored for women with GDM. Participants will complete questionnaires measuring anxiety GAD-7, depression PHQ-9, social support MSPSS, and quality of life GDMQ-36. Blood tests will assess vitamin D and cortisol levels. The study aims to identify links between psychological factors and quality of life to help develop more supportive care approaches. Results will be analyzed statistically, with participation lasting for the duration of data collection during pregnancy.
