What this Trial Is About
This research investigates the relationship between the spacing of contiguous dental implants and the health status around these implants, focusing on peri-implant diseases such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. The study is designed as a multicenter cross-sectional observational study, following STROBE guidelines and ethical standards, including informed consent. It includes patients who have received at least two contiguous dental implants before 2021, with a minimum of three years of implant function. Participants are grouped based on the distance between two contiguous dental implants: those with an inter-implant distance of 3 mm or less, and those with a distance greater than 3 mm. The study evaluates various implant-related factors, including implant type, position, brand, roughness, diameter, length, and prosthesis cleanability. Data is collected from electronic databases and patient evaluations conducted by examiners during scheduled visits. During the study, participants undergo evaluations to measure the prevalence of peri-implant diseases and related clinical parameters such as plaque and bleeding indices, probing pocket depth, mucosal recession, keratinized mucosa, and implant location. These assessments occur after at least 36 months of implant function. Researchers will monitor participants' implant status and related factors to understand how implant spacing may influence peri-implant health. The study period runs until the end of 2024.
