What this Trial Is About

Dumping syndrome is a common complication in patients who have had surgery for esophageal cancer, involving rapid movement of food from the stomach or reconstructed gastric tube into the small intestine. This causes symptoms like bloating, abdominal pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and sweating. A late phase of dumping syndrome may cause significant blood sugar drops leading to tremors, cold sweats, and fatigue. Currently, there is no simple standardized tool for diagnosing this condition after esophagectomy. This study evaluates the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), a small wearable sensor that tracks glucose levels in real time, to diagnose dumping syndrome. Researchers aim to see if CGM can be a useful tool for early detection of this condition in patients who have undergone esophagectomy with gastric tube reconstruction. Participants will undergo concurrent Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) and CGM measurements for up to 10 days after enrollment. The study will assess how well CGM agrees with OGTT in diagnosing dumping syndrome and its accuracy using specific glucose cut-off values. This observational study involves monitoring glucose levels and diagnostic procedures without treatment intervention.
