What this Trial Is About
This research investigates the effects of microneedling combined with coronally advanced flap surgery on gingival tissue thickness in patients with thin gingival phenotype and recession type 1 RT1 gingival recession. The study compares this approach with the more traditional coronally advanced flap surgery combined with connective tissue graft. It aims to determine if microneedling can offer similar root coverage outcomes while being less invasive and improving patient comfort. Participants will be assigned to one of two groups one group will undergo four microneedling sessions spaced 10 days apart, followed by a coronally advanced flap procedure two months later. The other group will receive the coronally advanced flap procedure with connective tissue graft harvested from the palate after initial therapy. Both approaches are designed to improve gingival thickness and root coverage. Throughout the study, participants will be followed for up to six months with evaluations at baseline, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. Assessments include measurements of recession depth and width, root coverage percentage, root esthetic score, patient-centered outcomes, clinical attachment level, probing pocket depth, plaque and gingival indices, and gingival thickness. The study involves regular monitoring to understand treatment effects and patient experiences over time.
