Study Comparing Two Gum Surgery Techniques with Tissue Grafting for Treating Single Gum Recession in the Premandible

Researchers are comparing two surgical methods to treat gum recession in the premolar area of the mouth. The study focuses on the modified tunnel technique MTUN and the tunneled coronally advanced flap TCAF, both combined with a connective tissue graft taken from the palate. The goal is to determine which technique achieves better root coverage in the short and long term, which could help reduce tooth sensitivity, improve appearance, and make oral care easier. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the MTUN or TCAF procedure, where gum tissue is carefully repositioned to cover the exposed root using a graft from the palate. The study also looks at pain levels after surgery related to how the donor site is covered, either with spongostan and stitches or a palatal stent. This trial includes surgery followed by regular check-ups and monitoring for up to 10 years. During the study, participants will attend scheduled visits to assess root coverage, gum thickness, pocket depth, and other oral health indicators. They will keep a postoperative journal to record medication use, pain, and tooth sensitivity. Researchers will also evaluate aesthetic results, pain at donor and recession sites, use of painkillers, and willingness to undergo retreatment. The long-term follow-up lasts up to a decade, allowing detailed monitoring of treatment outcomes and safety.
