What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the impact of holistic nursing care on children aged 8 to 11 years who undergo surgery and are hospitalized in a pediatric surgery clinic. The study aims to determine whether adding supportive activities to routine postoperative nursing care can improve childrens satisfaction with their care and positively influence how they perceive nurses and the nursing profession. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. All children will receive standard postoperative nursing care according to hospital protocols. In addition, children in the intervention group will engage in mandala coloring accompanied by music during their postoperative hospital stay. This activity is designed to help children relax, express their feelings, and enhance their overall hospital experience. During the postoperative hospitalization period, data will be collected using validated questionnaires that assess childrens satisfaction with nursing care and their perception of nurses. These assessments will take place before discharge, approximately 1 to 3 days after surgery. The study is supported by Akdeniz University and aims to contribute to better supportive care practices for pediatric surgical patients.
