Researchers are studying how using a mobile phone application called e-12HR can help university students improve their adherence to the Mediterranean diet. This controlled, randomized clinical trial involves students from the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Seville in Spain. The study aims to compare the effect of the app on diet habits by measuring changes in adherence scores over several weeks. Participants are divided into two groups: a control group and an intervention group. Both groups receive healthy diet advice. The control group uses a version of the e-12HR app that collects dietary intake data without feedback, while the intervention group uses a version that provides personalized feedback on their Mediterranean Diet Serving Score (MDSS) and recommendations for food groups needing improvement. The study measures adherence at baseline, 14, 21, and 28 days. During the study, participants use the app to record their diet and receive feedback if in the intervention group. Researchers track changes in the MDSS at 14, 21, and 28 days to assess the app's impact. The study includes 322 students aged 18 to 65 who have internet-enabled iOS or Android phones. Statistical analyses will compare the diet adherence improvements between the two groups to evaluate the intervention's effectiveness.
