What this Trial Is About

This research aims to improve fertility preservation and long-term care for children, adolescents, and young adults (CAYA) who undergo cancer treatments or stem cell transplantation. These treatments can harm fertility, making it essential to provide appropriate support and follow-up care. The study focuses on understanding fertility risks, addressing patient and family needs, and enhancing clinical care practices. The program involves creating a database to collect detailed medical information from patients before, during, and after cancer therapies. It will study the prevalence and long-term effects of fertility problems, document fertility preservation methods like freezing eggs or sperm, and track treatments for late effects. Researchers will also assess patients' and families' quality of life related to fertility and their informational needs, aiming to improve care structures. Participants will be involved through regular medical evaluations, including collecting therapy-related hormonal, body composition, and laboratory data. The study will monitor fertility-related outcomes over time, focusing on predictors of fertility disorders and the impact on quality of life. The long-term goal is to establish an interdisciplinary center to support fertility preservation and enhance care for young cancer patients.
