What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying the health-related quality of life and emotional well-being of patients with thyroid nodules, including both benign nodules and papillary thyroid carcinoma. This observational research compares patients' quality of life before and after treatment, focusing on the impact of different therapies on their emotional and overall health. The study recognizes the importance of quality of life as a key factor alongside survival in thyroid nodule management. The study observes two patient groups: those undergoing traditional surgical removal of thyroid nodules (thyroidectomy) and those receiving thermal ablation treatments such as microwave ablation or radiofrequency ablation. These treatments are examined for their effects on thyroid function and quality of life outcomes. Thermal ablation methods are considered alternatives to surgery and are assessed for safety and feasibility. Participants will have their quality of life, emotional status, and spiritual well-being measured before treatment and at 1, 6, and 12 months after treatment using specific questionnaires like the Thyroid Cancer-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Researchers will also monitor thyroid hormone levels and changes in nodule size over time. The study collects data from before and after treatment to evaluate the long-term impact on patients' health and well-being.
