Study on the Occurrence of Peri-implant Mucositis in Adults with Treated Periodontitis Receiving Dental Implant Maintenance

Researchers are conducting an observational study to find out how often peri-implant mucositis occurs in patients who have treated periodontitis and are receiving regular periodontal maintenance. The study also aims to identify risk factors linked to this condition, which is an inflammation around dental implants caused by bacterial buildup. The study focuses on patients who have dental implants placed and will follow them for 12 months to monitor their oral health. Patients enrolled have treated periodontitis and dental implants that are about to be restored with fixed or removable prostheses. The study involves supportive periodontal and peri-implant care sessions at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months, including cleaning of teeth and implants using specialized tools and providing personalized oral hygiene instructions and interdental brushes. This maintenance therapy helps manage biofilm around implants and teeth during the study period. Participants will have detailed clinical, radiographic, and microbiological evaluations at crown placement, 6 months, and 12 months. These assessments include checking plaque levels, bleeding on probing, probing depths, mucosal characteristics, bone levels, implant features, and patient-reported outcomes. The researchers will analyze these data to understand the incidence of peri-implant mucositis and its associated factors over the year-long follow-up.
