Characteristic, Diagnosis and Prognosis of Patients Admitted With Fever in Department of Infectious Diseases

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to better understand patients admitted to the hospital with fever, a common symptom in infectious diseases. The study focuses on analyzing the clinical features, causes, and outcomes of these patients to identify biochemical or serological markers that may help predict diagnosis and prognosis of infectious and non-infectious fever. The study is observational and conducted in the infectious diseases department of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. Participants will receive routine fever-related tests and necessary treatments based on their diagnosis, with no additional interventions added for the study. Researchers will collect clinical data including white blood cells, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, ferritin, blood cultures, and medications. Blood, urine, and stool samples will be taken and stored for potential future testing. Throughout the study, researchers will monitor fever duration up to one month after admission and record mortality related to fever up to three months. Participants will have various clinical examinations during their hospital stay, and their treatment progress and prognosis will be documented. The total participation time depends on their hospital stay and follow-up period.
