Researchers are evaluating the impact of a brief, one-time online learning intervention on researchers' knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions about including people with disabilities (PWDs) in biomedical and behavioral research. This study focuses on researchers from the Einstein/Montefiore network and other medical centers linked to Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs). It aims to address barriers to research inclusion faced by PWDs, especially considering the high prevalence of disabilities and the under-representation of PWDs in health research. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups: an experimental group viewing a single 30-minute interactive eLearning module designed to improve knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions (KAP) about including PWDs in research, or a control group viewing two shorter modules totaling about 30 minutes. The control modules cover disability data sources and models of disability. Both groups complete surveys before and after the intervention, with a follow-up survey 3-4 weeks later. Participants engage in baseline surveys assessing demographics, research experience, and KAP about disabilities. They then view the assigned learning modules and complete immediate post-surveys and follow-up surveys weeks later. Researchers measure changes in attitudes using a validated scale, as well as knowledge and perception scores. The study includes quality assurance for eligibility and data before compensation, with a total participation period covering baseline and follow-up assessments.
