What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the acceptability and preliminary effectiveness of a smartphone-delivered AI-based chatbot designed to promote healthy dietary habits and physical activity among adults aged 65 and older. This pilot randomized controlled trial aims to understand how older adults respond to this technology and its potential to encourage lifestyle changes. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group receives immediate access to the chatbot-based intervention for two months, which provides personalized recommendations on diet and physical activity. The other group is placed on a waiting list before they can access the same intervention. This setup allows comparison between immediate and delayed use of the chatbot. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires at the start and end of the two-month period to assess acceptance, usability, and user experience with the chatbot. Researchers will also measure changes in dietary intake, walking activity, overall physical activity levels, and quality of life. This data helps evaluate how well the chatbot supports lifestyle modification in older adults.
