What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate the impact of a specialized family program coordinated by Advanced Practice Registered Nurses APRNs on reducing the burden experienced by caregivers of young people with a first episode of psychosis FEP. Psychotic disorders are highly disabling and affect a persons thoughts, feelings, and daily functioning. Early intervention through multidisciplinary teams, including APRNs, is crucial to improve recovery prospects and address challenges such as treatment adherence and family support barriers. The study compares a psychoeducation program coordinated by APRNs with usual caregiver support at participating centers. The program includes an initial APRN consultation offering empathetic listening, orientation, and explanation about the young persons situation. It also involves individual psychoeducation sessions BREF with caregivers and group psychoeducation sessions PEPs Caregiver lasting five 2-hour meetings. These interventions aim to support family caregivers across five levels of the family care pyramid. Participants will be assessed at baseline and over a 12-month period to measure caregiver burden, mood, personal effectiveness, quality of life, involvement in patient care, and user recovery. Data collection includes evaluations at inclusion, 3, 6, and 12 months. Researchers will also monitor program implementation, acceptance, feasibility, relapse, adherence, and transferability. The total participation duration is up to one year, with multiple questionnaires and assessments to understand the programs impact on families and recovery outcomes.
