Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Presence of 3 of the following risk factors:
- Fasting plasma glucose 65100 mg/dL or treated for high glucose
- HDL cholesterol less than 40 mg/dL in men or less than 50 mg/dL in women or treated for low HDL
- Triglycerides 150 mg/dL or higher or treated for high triglycerides
- Waist circumference over 102 cm for men or over 88 cm for women
- Systolic blood pressure 130 mmHg or higher, or diastolic blood pressure 80 mmHg or higher, or treated for hypertension
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of cardiovascular disease
- Diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes
- Dairy allergy or lactose intolerance
- Self-reported high dairy intake of more than 3 servings per day
- More than 3 hours of physical activity per week
- Pregnancy
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Chronic use of steroids
- Allergy to metal
- Use of GLP-1 agonists
- Use of medications related to metabolic syndrome with planned dose adjustments during the study
