What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying how a telehealth music therapy intervention may help adults aged 18 to 65 who have autoimmune endocrine diseases and depression. The study aims to refine this music therapy to fit the needs of these adults and assess its feasibility for a future larger trial. It focuses on improving quality of life, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and exploring participants relationship to music. Participants will join an 8-week telehealth music therapy program with a board-certified therapist, attending weekly sessions lasting 30 to 45 minutes via Zoom. The therapy includes activities such as playlist creation, song discussion, songwriting, improvisation, music-assisted relaxation, music listening journals, and combining music with art. All participants receive this intervention alongside their usual medical care. Throughout the study, participants will complete interviews and questionnaires at the start and end of the sessions to share information on depression, anxiety, quality of life, and their feelings about music. Researchers will track attendance, survey completion, and satisfaction with the telehealth sessions. Outcome measurements occur at baseline and after 8 weeks, with interviews conducted to gather feedback on the intervention and study process.
